Yoga with AyurVidya
Yoga is more than stretching or fitness- it’s an ancient practice that began over 5,000 years ago in India, originally designed to help practitioners still the mind and unite with the divine. Early yogic traditions focused on 10–15 seated postures (asanas) to prepare the body for long periods of meditation and spiritual connection.
In modern Western culture, yoga has often been reimagined as a form of exercise. While it absolutely can support strength, flexibility, and fitness, it’s also a powerful tool for emotional regulation, nervous system support, and holistic well-being.
At AyurVidya, we honor both sides of the practice:
-
🔥 The energizing flows that help release stress and tension
-
🧘 The grounding stillness that reconnects us to ourselves
Whether you’re here for movement, mindfulness, or healing, yoga can meet you where you are and help you return home to your body, breath, and inner balance.
My Journey Into Yoga
As a registered nurse working in pediatric oncology and case management, I turned to yoga to calm my mind and process the emotional demands of the hospital. After long, high-stress shifts, stepping onto my mat became a sacred space and a way to return to myself.
I first fell in love with hot power flows. The sweat, the challenge, the release—it was my favorite form of detox. Western yoga gave me that much-needed outlet, and I still honor those fiery flows for how they helped me survive and thrive.
But as I deepened my practice, I became curious about yoga’s roots—a practice of stillness, spiritual connection, and inner awareness, originally created to prepare the body for meditation. That led me to explore beyond the studio.
My Training & Teaching Style
I received my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training through CorePower Yoga. I personally enjoy teaching Yin Yoga classes, which emphasizes deep relaxation and nervous system regulation. I also pursued additional coursework to study the history and philosophy of yoga, giving me a broader and more authentic lens through which to teach.
What I’ve discovered is this: yoga is more than just movement—it’s a lifestyle. And it should be accessible, joyful, and deeply personal.
